Tom, I kept everything that was important. The Gorilla was named Fatz, and he was very realistic looking.
The cheerleader was a mouse named Mitzi. There was also Dook the Dog, Beach Bear, a Wolf with his ventriloquist puppet, a spider, a gopher, the sun, the moon, Billy Bob and his bird, and Looney Bird (I was at Showbiz for birthday parties a lot!). I never saw the old version of Chuck E.
Yes, I guess Showbiz was converted to Chuck E. Cheese in the late 80s/early 90s, and as far as I know the only animatronic there now is of Chuck E. Cheese himself. I hate to say as a six year old in 1983, I didn't think any different over which one I liked, probably because I didn't quite develop that sort of taste yet. I think I just liked that the 2600 game had a cartoon with a typical quivering animal sidekick included (who also appeared in the sequel game I had for the ColecoVision, though as with both games, I couldn't really figure them out at all, again, being 6)!
Qbert is an old school arcade game that could be found in many a shopping mall across America in the eighties. Qbert also made his debut on the NES to the delight of kids (and adults) everywhere. The goal of this game is simple yet in combines that addicting ingredient that makes you say 'One more time' even after you've been playing for 6 hours straight. In each level, Q.bert must hop onto every block to change its color. Once this is done, the level is completed and you move on. Sounds easy but, trust me, it's not.
